Resilience and Mindfulness: Practical strategies to deal with pressure and stress in the workplace
Stress is the single biggest reason why teachers, including Headteachers and other leaders are leaving the profession. Schools and academies are becoming increasingly under pressure to deliver higher level of standards within a context of challenging budgets – the draining effect on people and organisations can only deteriorate further unless there is a strategic approach using resilience and mindfulness techniques that have been proven to work in other sectors.
Benefits of such an approach will include positive impact on pupil/student outcomes through higher staff well-being and performance as well as improved retention and recruitment of key staff.
This is a half-day seminar delivered in partnership with Mindfulness Connected to provide leaders and managers at all levels with a series of tools, strategies and techniques to cope effectively with pressure, demanding workload and complex challenge in both personal and professional life.
The workshop will provide information, awareness and practical skills to deal with issues on an individual basis as well as to enable you to develop a wider, more strategic approach for developing a framework at team and organisation level.
The session will also introduce you to guided meditation and there will be some prior preparation and post-workshop follow up activities to enable delegates to gain maximum benefit.

10.00 – 10.20 Break
10.20 – 12.15: Developing preventative strategies
- Activity to understand our emotional responses
- Awareness of triggers and strategies to avoid dysfunctional ‘default’ behaviours
- Guided meditation activities
- Developing a whole school approach to resilience and mindfulness
- Discussion and action planning
At the conclusion of the workshop there is opportunity for delegates to engage in more detailed 1 to 1 discussion or to explore the possibility for bespoke in-school programme of support.
Tea/coffee with fresh fruit and pastries available from 8.10 and the session starts promptly at 8.30.
